Acupuncture for injuries

Acupuncture has a long history of treating both chronic pain and acute injuries. By decreasing inflammation, minimizing swelling, increasing circulation, it accelerates the healing process and decreases pain.

Acupuncture can be used for strains, sprains, falls, sports injuries, workout soreness, plantar fasciitis, frozen shoulder syndrome, tennis elbow, knee pain, surgery recovery, scars (old or new), and recurrent pain from old injuries. It is a safe, noninvasive way to recover from injuries and manage pain.

When we’re treating acute pain or injuries, we like to see you 1-2 times a week for 2-3 weeks. It is best to treat injuries swiftly and thoroughly so there is not lasting damage. When we’re injured we also tend to guard against pain and develop compensatory postures and gaits to protect the injured area. These can develop into asymmetrical patterns and muscle development over time, leading to future injuries and pain. After a few treatments, once we’re seeing improvement, we’ll decrease the frequency of your treatments and recommend at home exercises and care to complete your recovery.
